FAQs
Yes you can. About 90% of our residential clients install the fence themselves. The rest will hire a handyman. Our fence panels are shipped preassembled (ready for installation) and the gates are welded. Our posts are factory punched / routed (for horizontal rail insertion) based upon the grade, height, style and location of each post. You can save a TON of money installing our products yourself. Furthermore, we have an installation manual (pdf) for download and we offer FREE Telephone Installation Support!
Yes. There is a lifetime warranty on workmanship and materials. There is also a lifetime warranty on the powder coat finish which is guaranteed not to crack, peel, blister or rust for the life of the product.
You would have to place 2 separate orders and incur 2 separate shipping charges.
Doing this will not speed up your order
And, most importantly, you cannot install of your posts in advance. That’s not how this works. Our posts are routed at the factory. You insert the horizontal rails of the fence panel into the routed holes. Which means, you install each post with each panel during installation. It’s actually easier this way.
For more information on this, download our easy Installation Manual located here: Installation.
Stainless steel, powder coated head, self-tapping, panel-to-post connection screws are automatically included with your fence and post order. The only items you ever have to purchase are: a) cement for posts going ‘into the ground’, b) anchor bolts for surface mounting posts WITH OUR WELDED PLATE OPTION, c) anchor screws when flush mounting a post to your own structure (house, building, wall, column or wood post), or c) anchor screws for straight, vertical, and/or horizontal swivel mounts when installing the mounts to your own structure (house, building, wall, column or wood post).
There's no right way or wrong way. You can do either. If you choose to use the our Rail End mounts or Swivel mounts, however, you'll need to purchase your own anchor screws (based upon the material your connecting the mount to).
No, all of our products are custom made, per order. 100% American made using only American components and extrusions. And designed for do-it-yourself installation. We ship to your home, business or freight forwarder anywhere in the continental USA. Overseas shipments to Hawaii, Alaska, The Caribbean or the Virgin Islands is common but require a freight forwarder.
Absolutely. We call this TRIM-TO-FIT. You can cut/trim 2 inches or 2 feet off of any of our fence panels, very quickly, on-site using any metal blade saw. You can cut a fence panel in half, if necessary. Gates cannot be modified on-site since all gates are welded and framed.
No, posts are not automatically included with any fence panel or gate purchase. You typically need to order posts for every panel-to-panel connection (we do have optional wall / column mounts, though). And, you must order two Gate Posts for any single gate, driveway gate and/or estate gate.
The depth of your post for "in ground" applications ultimately is based upon your local building codes. We recommend, at minimum, that your posts should be at least 2 feet longer than the height of your fence or gate; however, if you're in an area of the country with frost line issues, you may be required to order longer posts. Always check your local building codes.
The lead time on most fence and gate order is est. 5 weeks + shipping time. It's not exact because our production workflow fluctuates from week to week. Smaller, Accessory-Only Orders ship faster. Extra fabrication time will be required for bulk orders and orders in White Gloss, White Satin or Khaki Satin.
Our Support Team will email you the day your order leaves our factory and provide you with tracking information on your shipment so you'll know, in advance, when your order is in transit.
Our posts are prepunched based upon "your" fence panel configuration (style, height, number of horizontal rails...etc.). This makes for such an easy, streamlined installation that anyone can install our fencing and gate system. You simply insert the horizontal rails of each fence panel into the factory-routed holes. Then, you set the panel by self-tapping stainless steel (painted) TEK screws (which are included with your order automatically). This is why you don't dig all of your holes in advance. You build the fence one section at a time. The good news is that after you've installed a couple of sections, your learning curve will skyrocket! DIY installation at it's finest!
Absolutely! All 3 grades (residential, commercial, and industrial) have less than 4 inches of spacing between each pair of vertical pickets... on our aluminum fence panels and gates. Medium and large dogs won't be able to get through.
For small/tiny dogs, we recommend either:
1. Adding our optional puppy pickets (short pickets) to all of you fence panels and gates. You can easily do this on the product pages, or
2. Order our Style 7 or Style 8 fence and gate system which has double the amount of vertical pickets (1.5 inches spacing).
For deer and wild animals, you should not use residential grade. Instead, we recommend upgrading to commercial or industrial grade because the vertical pickets and horizontal rails are much, much larger and thicker. We have a customer in New Mexico that used our 8 foot high industrial fencing to keep mountain lions out of her backyard.
In the 'old days' we used to have beautiful, hard copy, color brochures.
With the advent of the internet, tablets and smartphones... we no longer produce physical brochures because we're constantly updating our website with customer pictures, testimonials, diagrams and product information and you can access the latest product information and pricing, anytime from any of these devices, anywhere you can get internet access!
We have 400 customer pictures and we're always adding more!
Our website is the best, and most current, brochure we could ever offer!

All residential deliveries include a lift-gate. Our products are boxed, shrink-wrapped and palletized. Your driver will bring everything to the back of the truck and you can simply tear open the shrink wrap and pull the boxes off the truck. These products are made of aluminum. And, while they're extremely durable; they don't have the crazy heavy weight of the old-style wrought iron products of the past!
For businesses that have a forklift, you can grab the entire pallet(s) directly off the truck!

It’s o.k. to mix-and-match Residential FENCE PANELS with Commercial and/or Industrial Single Gates or Double Gates. This is common for homeowners with large driveways.
NOTE: Estate Gates require a minimum width of 10 feet because bending aluminum is not an exact science and the swooping, gorgeous estate arch needs more room to accomplish this type of metal curve.

No. That would obstruct ingress and egress to your property. The only thing that goes in the middle of our driveway gates is a 2-piece gate lock.
These 2 styles are very similar. However, Style 4 fence panels / gates have the vertical pickets protruding through the bottom rail approximately 6 inches. Style 9 has the lower (bottom) horizontal rail flush and was specifically created many years ago to meet child safety requirements for swimming pool fencing. There is no structure advantage for using one over the other; they're both very popular styles!
No. Puppy Pickets are an optional add-on and they are factory installed on new product orders only.
Some credit card companies (unbeknownst to the customer) put a Daily Security Limit on the customer's credit card....for your protection. This can be easily fixed. All you have to do is call your credit card company, tell them that you are attempting to place an order with GreatFence.com, Inc. and ask them to temporarily remove the daily security limit. Then, go back to your shopping cart and click the PLACE ORDER button one more time and your order should go through. If you continue to have a problem processing your order through our website, please call us at 1-888-379-1312.
These are 2 questions. 1. Some remote areas of the country require the freight carriers we use to hand-off the order to a third party delivery service. There is no additional cost for this; however, there may be some delays and limited delivery date windows. Prepare accordingly. 2. In some rare situations, if the driver cannot easily get to your home because of narrow, winding roadways, you may have to meet the driver at an optional, near-by location. If you think you're delivery might be problematic, you can contact the carrier (after your order has shipped) and find out if your address will require a different delivery location for pickup.
Absolutely. We offer aluminum, powder coating Rail End mounts (aka wall mounts). See Aluminum Fence Panels > Accessories accessed from the main menu.
We also carry Vertical Swivel mounts for racked fence panels and Horizontal swivel mounts for angular connections.

No. We do not sell any products for use with other brands of fencing.
Yes, except for the following. You will need to purchase cement locally for posts installed "in ground." You will need to purchase anchors locally for posts surface mounted with our welded plate option. When connecting fence panels to an existing structure using our mounts, you will also need to purchase anchor screws locally based upon the material you're connecting to. We have always recommended that you wait to receive your order. Then, you can take the product(s) in hand to a local hardware store for these items.
