Stair-stepping fence panels requires longer posts because you’re connecting 2 panels two different heights. Blank Posts can be trimmed at the bottom (for in-ground applications) and at the top (for surface mount applications. i.e. posts with the welded plate added). Note: Posts are not sold in pairs; all posts are sold individually.view images
Fence Panels up to 6 foot high should use posts cemented 2 to 3 feet into the ground. Fence barriers 7 foot high and higher should use posts cemented 3 feet into the ground. Always check your local building codes — some US jurisdictions are strict and other jurisdictions (especially rural areas) have little to no restrictions. Post lengths can be easily trimmed on-site.
Order post(s) 1 – 2 feet longer than the height of your fence panel or gate (depending on the size of your step. After installation, trim this post (Blank Posts Only) from the top, then, gently install post cap on top of the cut. Anchors to be purchased locally based upon the material you’re mounting to. For slight terrain variations, shim the post. For medium/steep slopes, purchase post with no plate and core drill. Posts with welded plates added are not available for fence panels or gates above 7 feet high.view plate specifications
